How to wear a convertible dress

By Taylah Burrows 10 February 2017

Convertible bridesmaid dresses have emerged as a trend in the last couple of months.

This dress style has dual benefits; allowing for colour uniformity across a bridal party, while providing the opportunity for individuality.

Another option for bridal party variation is having bridesmaids wearing the same style, but in different hues.

Below are some examples of how to wear a full length version of the convertible dress - which is from Brides and Maids in Shepparton, and modelled by Cayla Griffiths of Shepparton.

Simple halter

How to: The halter style is the easiest way to wear this dress. Simply take the two straps up over the shoulders and tie in a bow behind the neck.

One shoulder

How to: Take the two straps of the dress and put them both over one shoulder, ensuring they slightly overlap and cover the bust area.

Once over the shoulder, twist the straps until you get thick ropes and loop one over and under the other and pull tight.

Then take the ropes and separate them; bringing one to each side of the front; then crossing them over again, under the bust, and then to your back. Secure in a bow.

Grecian halter

How to: Take the straps up to below the chin and loop one strap over, and one strap under, then pull slightly.

Next, take the straps and put one each over the shoulders. At the back, cross them over and bring one to each side of the front, then fasten lightly so they drape down on each side.

Cap sleeve

How to: Take the straps and drape them over a shoulder each.

Twist them twice at arm-pit height and then fan back out over the shoulder, creating however big a sleeve desired.

At the back take the straps (keeping them big and wide), cross them over and then bring them to the front. Cross them over at the front - under the bust - and secure them in a knot at the back.

Strapless

How to: Cross the straps over and then around the bust, spreading the material out evenly.

Continue wrapping the straps around the front and back - creating a bandeau-shaped bust - until there is a small amount of strap fabric left at the back. Secure the straps in a single knot and tuck under the wrapped area.

Twisted straps

How to: Twist each strap and place over each respective shoulder. At the back, wind the straps around each other three times, then separate them and bring them to your front under the bust.

Once under the bust, spread the straps wide and cross over, then secure them in a bow at the back.
