A simple and elegant ceremony marked the moment Teagan Russell and Jack McCormick were married. The pair tied the knot at Asphodel, and included their family members in a variety of sentimental ways.
Wedding phrase
Teagan and Jack featured the wedding phrase “Best day ever” throughout the day in many different ways. “It was on our greeting sign, cake topper, hashtags and our guest signing book,” Teagan said. “People sort of just went with it.”
Family details
The pair honoured their family members by including them in different parts of the day. Teagan walked down the aisle to a song traditionally used in father-daughter dances, which made her feel like her father was with her on her special day. The couple’s mother’s signed the wedding certificates, and the groom wore his grandfather’s cufflinks as he was unable to attend the wedding due to poor health.
Touch of yellow
Guests at Teagan and Jack’s wedding received Daffodil pins from the Cancer Council Victoria as their wedding favours. The couple made a donation to the council as a way of honouring Teagan’s late father, John Russell, who passed away from lung cancer three years ago. “All of our guests had an emotional reaction to the gift and wore their pins with pride on the night,” Teagan said.
A nervous wait
Jack had a long wait ahead of him the night he chose to propose to Teagan. He had picked the ring up that day and had prepared dinner and decorated the house in candles. Jack planned to be on one knee when she walked in the door, but when Teagan arrived home she remained in the car on a phone call for half an hour. “It was a nervous wait,” Jack said. “When she finally came inside I was on one knee.” The proposal was followed by a few tears from Teagan and more phone calls to family and friends.
