At the centre of every successful wedding reception is a sense of social cohesion. With some clever planning, couples can create an atmosphere where the guests mingle and share the experiences together.
One such technique is having long, rectangular tables. The benefits of this table-type are becoming more apparent: with many wedding guests noting the ease with which they can socialise, and couples noting the simplicity in decorating.
Better social vibe
When seated at a long table, guests are not limited to talking with those on either side of them – they can also talk to the 2-3 people sitting opposite them. This makes for increased and varied social interaction, and allows group conversations to occur.
Saves money
Long rectangular tables have less space to be decorated than the (previously popular) large circular tables. For each pair of people sitting opposite one another on a rectangular table - all that is required is 1-2 small decorative items in the centre. Whereas with circular tables, there is a substantial amount of space in the centre to be filled – with multiple decorations, and variations in height. Due to this, rectangular tables are cheaper to decorate.
Gives a feeling of abundance
With less space in the centre of a rectangular table, it is easier to make the centrepieces seem abundant. A small collection of pieces in the centre for each pair of people, or a series of evenly spaced items running the length of the table, will make the centerpieces look full to the brim.
